Factors affecting consumer satisfaction are as follows: 1. Added Value or Quality of Service 2. Initial Cost 3. Running Cost 4. Maintenance and Durability Note: There is always a tradeoff between these factors Based on The Above, Two Examples for Renewable Energy Applications are Electric Cars and Solar Energy. A. Electric Cars: One case study shows that a Mercedes S Class, with an internal combustion engine, owner will pay over $100k more than someone who purchased a Tesla Model S due to base or initial price, fuel consumed for same mileage, and maintenance costs, as the study showed simple repairs due to damage don’t cost that much for Tesla Electric Car. Furthermore, less harmful carbon emissions and less noise compared to petrol vehicles reduce much of our surrounding pollution. As for the added value or performance, an example is Nissan Leaf car with a range of 151 miles and 147 Horsepower, 5 seats, and much luxury from inside. B. The main challenge with using solar panels at home is not price, as it is relatively cheap, however, it is technical related to the efficiency of solar cells which increases the area required to generate a specific amount of power. So why don’t we use solar panels along with traditional electricity at home in order to make a compromise and take advantage of both. References: [1] Ulanoff, L.
